The building of this hotel is rich in both history (as Berlin's centre of jazz in the 1950's and 60's) and architecture. It has a very relaxed atmosphere. The average, less expensive rooms are pretty basic but functional, clean and comfortable. Very friendly and welcoming staff and an excellent selection for breakfast. Not the cheapest hotel, but it's situated in one of the most expensive areas in Berlin.

The Ellington in Berlin is situated pretty central, really close to the "KdW" (the famous "Kaufhaus des Westens"). It has a nice character due to it's Jazz theme and industrial look. The Ellington in Berlin is situated pretty central, really close to the "KdW" (the famous "Kaufhaus des Westens"). It has a nice character due to it's Jazz theme and industrial look. So it is nice if you are looking for something else next to the chain hotels. Staff was really nice and forthcoming. The breakfast had a great selection of different kinds of breads, toppings, muesli, egg dishes and so on. Drinks include coffee, tea and different juices. The room has a big bed, nice shower with a strong shower spray. The room itself isn't too big and I was missing a few hooks for example next to the shower for a towel or a toilet bag. It doesn't really have a desk but you can put a chair next to the "counter". In general everything was really clean and I felt really comfortable in Covid 19 times.

This is a nice clean hotel in a very good location. As several people already mentioned the size of the rooms I am going to skip that. This is a nice clean hotel in a very good location. As several people already mentioned the size of the rooms I am going to skip that. Free wifi available and the breakfast buffet is sufficient and tasty. The clean and modern design is of course a question of taste but it is fitting to the whole concept of the hotel. Parking over night is 24€.

“disappointed”

I have nothing to complain about the service, room, breakfast and location - all were/are good. However, the only reason we booked this hotel was because of the bar. We had only one night in Berlin and we wanted to invite family members to the bar at the hotel and then go on for dinner. Incide... Più

I have nothing to complain about the service, room, breakfast and location - all were/are good. However, the only reason we booked this hotel was because of the bar. We had only one night in Berlin and we wanted to invite family members to the bar at the hotel and then go on for dinner. Incidentally the hotel bar is very interesting which a nice lounge area. We booked our restaurant around the location of the hotel and bar. When we arrived in the afternoon we discovered that the bar was closed due to a private function. There had been no mention of this prior to our arrival and it was not mentioned at check-in. In fact we were told that if we wanted a drink at the bar we could sign it to the room?? When I asked at reception what we should do as the hotel had no alternative for paying guests - the manager on duty said we should order room service - how could this be possible with 6 adults in a standard room?? I find this unacceptable that a 4 star hotel can close off its only bar because of a private function and not care about paying guests. We were all very disappointed and found this unacceptable.
